Mobile Backstage, a new social music service and mobile app that lets artists and bands “engage” with their fans, is set to officially launch next week, although it’s already been trialed by the likes of hip hop star Dizzee Rascal, and the ‘emo’ outfit You Me At Six (yes, I’ve never heard of them either). It’s been developed by Steam Republic, a Finnish mobile solutions company, which says it recently raised a second round of funding in the region of €2 million of its target of €3 -5 million.
Steam Republic is a company with roots in music business, and a future in digital fan-oriented marketing in the world of entertainment. We are experts in fan interaction and social networking, aiming to create, strengthen, and measure the relationships between the fan and the star, using products specifically designed for the purpose.
Mobile Backstage - a direct-to-fan mobile software - is currently in beta phase and piloted by artists such as You Me At Six (EMI UK), Enter Shikari (Atlantic Records UK) and Michael Monroe (USA/FIN).
The commercial release of Mobile Backstage is set for Summer 2010.
