Constitution

§1 Be Bold

Bold is Steam Republic’s middle name. We are curious to see the opportunities behind new challenges, and the rewards behind risks. In fact, we are fuelled by challenges, not because they are easy but because they are difficult. We are not afraid to make bold statements; they are the precedents of success.

§2 Generate Steam

Steam is our driving force. We are pushed forward by a positive pressure that makes us take risks – and achieve extraordinary results. The positive pressure produces Steam Republic’s number one natural resource, energy. We prefer to operate on the edge, and believe that trial and error is far more productive than routine. Our energy level is constantly in the red zone, and sometimes we deliberately allow our engines to overheat in order to push our own limits.

§3 Promote Tolerance

Steam Republic is a meritocracy, where ideas and initiatives are judged on the basis of their talent and potential, and not on the basis of the person presenting them. In Steam Republic, freedom of speech prevails. We believe in pluralism and strive to avoid unnecessary borderlines. We are eager to cooperate and learn more about everything not invented here. We also tolerate uncertainty and conflict situations: we address problems even if we do not yet have solutions at hand.

§4 Foster Vitality

Steam Republic exuberates energy, and radiates fire and life both inwards and outwards. We want everyone in Steam Republic to thrive, and that is why we invest in an open and positive working environment. All citizens and allies of Steam Republic exist and work for a reason, which motivates them to flourish and grow on all levels: organizationally, financially, and also professionally and personally. Well-being is a source of vitality, keeping the steam engines of Steam Republic running.

§5 Enable Adhocracy

In Steam Republic, you can see as far as the eye can see. The landscape is characterized by low buildings. Ivory towers are nowhere to be found – the world is flat and the sky is high. Adhocracy in Steam Republic means that everything is Mobilis in mobili, ‘changing with the changes”: we are not tied to predefined procedures or practices, but instead modify our approach according to every new situation and purpose, ad hoc. In order for this to work, the organization is built on trust in each other’s skills and judgment. Rather than formulating rules, we share a sense of responsibility for ourselves, our actions, and our allies.

§6 Pursue Progress

With our energy levels constantly on the red zone, we are taking huge leaps forward, sometimes some jumps sideways or backwards, but in the end, always forward. We tolerate experimenting, and challenge ourselves time after time. Why? Because we want to learn and develop. We want progress. We aim high, so we are bound to reach high. “Insanity is repeating the same action over and over again and expecting different results.” We agree with Einstein, and choose to vary our approaches and learn from our experiences. This is how we reach the goals we have set for ourselves.
