Supported by PIAS and endorsed by labels such as Liberation, Infectious Records and Glassnote Records, the Australian alternative rock band The Temper Trap released today their brand new Fan App. Already putting their mobiles to test, the band’s members are eager to establish a more direct relationship with their fans. The Temper Traps will be able to create and immediately share exclusive content and media while on the move, feeding and engaging a community of core supporters willing to spread their message to new listeners.

The Temper Trap Fan App is a mobile social application built on Steam Republic’s Mobile Backstage platform currently available for iPhone, iPod Touch and most Java based phones (e.g. Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Samsung phones). Formed in 2005 in Melbourne, Australia, notedd by their atmospheric sound, pulsating rhythms and defined by Rolling Stone as “emotive vocals against steady, determined guitars — a stirring hybrid of Britpop and soul”, the band was chosen by BBC in 2009 as one of the hottest act around. The same year the band stepped up to the international stage with their single Sweet Disposition, from their debut album Conditions, nominated Album of the Year at the 2009 ARIA Music Awards.

Next up they’ll be playing at Lollapalooza and Outside Lands festivals along with a run of shows in the US. This will be followed shortly after by a headlining tour throughout North America this Fall, including their biggest show to date and Austin City Limits Festival.
